CFDSUPPORT co-founder and Managing Director Lubos Pirkl recently joined Martin Hurych on the Czech business podcast Zážeh for a conversation about the business behind an engineering technology company.

The discussion looks back at the CFDSUPPORT journey since 2009 — from two PhD students starting with little more than their engineering expertise, through years of CFD consultancy, to building scalable software products for a global market. It also touches on some lessons learned along the way: why low price turned out not to be a strong competitive advantage in B2B, how open source enabled a small engineering team to compete internationally, and why trust, competence and technical support often matter more than the software itself.

The conversation also moves into AI and the changing relationship between technology and human expertise. As software, computing power and data become increasingly accessible, an interesting paradox emerges:
