Radial Fan CFD Workflow
Example of comprehensive CFD workflow of simulating air flow in radial fans.
The CFD workflow is fully automated and can be automated for every other type of rotating machine.
Finally, in effective work, within each new design, the user just runs single script.
All the process is done automatically.
The surface model together with physical data are loaded in Turbomachinery CFD.
This CFD workflow employs multi-region approach, which means the model is split into certain number of regions.
Each region is computed like separately and communicates with other regions via interfaces.
The mesh is created automatically within snappyHexMesh. Every region has its own mesh.
The simulation can be run on any number of parallel processors. Immediately after the simulation is started the user can follow the progress of all the important quantities: flow rates, residuals, efficiency, torque, flow number, pressure number or pressure difference.
This run-time functions give the user valuable information of the convergence and also provide availability to modify the simulation set-up during the run-time.
CFD Support developed special plugin to ParaView for visual postprocessing of rotating machinery: Turbo Blade Post.
Turbo Blade Post enables smart postprocessing of all rotating machinery, including blade-to-blade view, meridional average view and many more.
Turbomachinery CFD merged with Water Turbine CFD
From August 2015, the CFD support products for simulating rotating machinery (Water Turbine CFD and Turbomachinery CFD) were merged into single one CFDSupport flagship: Turbomachinery CFD.
New Turbomachinery CFD has all the features and benefits of both previous packages. So, from now, there is only one and powerful tool for simulating turbomachinery.
Turbomachinery CFD upcoming new features
Before the the end of 2015 there will be delivered new Turbomachinery CFD software version. CFD Support committed to deliver following new features:
- Special Interface format for all rotating machinery
- Fully automated CFD workflows for Pump, Fan, Compressor and Turbine
- Graphical User Interface (GUI) for case set-up
- Same workflow for Linux and Windows
- Demo of full software version available
- New run-time functions & postprocessing
- and many more …
OpenFOAM® Training, Prague, Oct 19 - 23, 2015
As philosopher Eric Hoffer said,
“In a time of drastic change, it is the learners who inherit the future.”
CFD Support organizes regular public OpenFOAM® trainings providing the participants with an introduction into OpenFOAM® or offering them a significant improvement of their knowledge of OpenFOAM®.
We would like to invite you to our public OpenFOAM® training in Oct 19-23, 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic. It is a great opportunity to meet in person and discuss (not only) OpenFOAM® and CFD with us. More information can be found here.
