DrivAer CFD Simulation Benchmark
This benchmark project shows a CFD simulation using TCAE simulation environment
The DrivAer Benchmark is one of the most widely used test cases for automotive aerodynamics validation. It represents a realistic passenger car geometry, designed by TU München, that bridges the gap between idealized aerodynamic models and real-world vehicle shapes.
In this TCAE tutorial, the DrivAer model is used to demonstrate the complete CFD workflow in TCAE — from geometry preparation, meshing, and setup, to simulation, postprocessing, and automated reporting.
The tutorial highlights:
Accurate prediction of aerodynamic drag and lift coefficients
Detailed visualization of flow separation, wake formation, and pressure distribution
Comparison of TCAE simulation results with experimental data
Practical demonstration of TCAE’s automation, scalability, and open-source foundation
This benchmark proves TCAE’s capabilities in high-quality automotive aerodynamics simulations, providing a reproducible, industry-relevant example for both research and engineering practice.
