Close the Model and Separate the Inlet and the Outlet

  • In the following section there will be shown how to close the surface model. Particularly, how to create the inlet and the outlet boundary.
  • The second step would be to split the valve model into two parts – inlet part and outlet part. Between these two parts there will be an interface where a user can evaluate his CFD results.
  • The interface between these two regions will be located in the middle of the original region. Exactly at that location, where the cuts 3 and 4 were made in the previous section (see figurecrossref).
  • Use those faces from the valve body shell and cuts and show only the faces needed for the inlet region as it is displayed in the figure crossref.

  • There are three “openings” in the model of the inlet region of the valve.
  • It is necessary to close them to make the model waterproof. Create three faces to close all these three openings. The first one is inlet boundary, the second one is interface between inlet and outlet region. The third one is the top closure around the valve’s plug.
  • To close openings of the surface model you should use Suppress Holes functionality.
  • In the upper menu navigate to Repair – Suppress holes
  • Fill out the form in the Suppress holes window in a way as it is shown in the figure crossref and click Apply and close
